Workshop Wednesdays

 

Workshop Wednesdays will run 3-4:30pm starting October 5th​ and our first workshop series will be photography, taught by our fabulous Northeastern Coop, Niko Friehs​. ​Other Workshop Wednesday programs will be: Filmmaking, Improv/Sketch Comedy, Documentary Film, Stop Motion Animation​ & more​, all dates TBA.

Digital Photography (October 5th- November 9th, 3-4:30pm): Taught by Northeastern Co-Op Niko Friehs, this 6 week program will teach the art of digital photography using DSLR cameras, as well as editing photos using a variety of software tools. The program will culminate with a featured exhibition in our in-house art gallery! For youth age 8+. $0-$200/session, sliding scale.

Audio Production and Editing (November 16th-December 21st): Taught by Northeastern Co-Op Niko Friehs and Youth Media Coordinator Heather McCormack, this 6 week program will teach youth the art of audio production and editing using Adobe Audition and other audio tools. Youth will have the opportunity to record and edit original podcasts, music, field audio and more, and learn how to fine tune their audio recordings to sound professional. Followed by a community showcase on the final day. Ages 8+ $0-$200/session, sliding scale.

Stop Motion Animation (January 11th-February 15th): Taught by Heather McCormack, youth in this class will create, film, edit and present your own stop-motion animation short that will be screened on SCATV. Youth will also use unconventional materials to make characters that will tell a unique and creative story. Ages 8+. $0-$200 sliding scale.

Teen Documentary Film (March 8th- April 12th): Taught by accomplished editor, filmmaker, and media educator Vera Ventura, youth in this class will learn the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking and will film their own original short documentaries to be screened at a community showcase, and potentially submitted to local and/or national film festivals. $0-200 sliding scale, Ages 13+.

Improv/Sketch Comedy (April 26th-May 31st): Instructor TBA. Youth in this class will learn the fundamentals of improv and sketch comedy, and will create an original short sketch comedy program to be aired on SCATV. $0-$200 sliding scale, ages 8+
